The Process: Precision and Attention to Detail
We were contracted to build a custom outdoor kitchen in Westlake Hills near 2222. The homeowner had several unique ideas and hand-selected features they wanted incorporated into the design, so we customized the entire space around those elements while focusing on long-term durability and weather resistance.
Because the area experiences significant water exposure, we constructed the framework using galvanized steel framing to help prevent rust and deterioration over time. Before applying the stucco exterior finish, we installed 1/2-inch HardieBacker throughout the structure to provide an additional layer of protection against moisture and the outdoor elements.
One of the standout features of this project was the countertop design. Instead of using traditional quartz or stone surfaces, the customer chose custom hand-poured concrete countertops designed to mimic the look and feel of a traditional Mexican-style outdoor kitchen. It was a creative direction that gave the entire project a distinctive character and truly made the space one of a kind.
